Our interstellar neighbourhood

In the last few years more and more people got excited about spaceflight and the potential colonization of other celestial bodies. Due to humanity’s still quite limited technologies and resources, the first places we might colonize will be Earth’s Moon and the planet Mars. Some enthusiast however already began thinking about traveling to distant star systems, to explore their planets and moons. Although this scenario won’t, if at all, occur in hundreds or thousands of years, it might still be fascinating to take a closer look on our interstellar neighbourhood.

The following list consist of all currently known stars, brown dwarfs and white dwarfs located within a 50 light-years radius around the Sun. Because some objects, especially brown dwarfs, are very dim, new systems might be added to this list once they are discovered with more advanced telescopes.

A list of the Milky Way Galaxy’s intergalactic neighbourhood will be available in the near future.
